DIY Dupli-Color Custom Wrap Wheels

Ever considered custom wrapping your car’s exterior? Or even the wheels? I’m Ben, I work for Supercheap Auto and I’m here to show you just how easy it is to do!

A good friend of mine has owned this set of Enkei wheels for a few years now. They’ve always been an interesting coat of grey. He decided that change is as good as a holiday and enlisted me to help change up the look of his little Mazda.  On a tight budget we decided the best way to do this was to simply paint the wheels.

Over the weekend we went down to our local Supercheap and purchased a few cans of Dupli-Colour custom wrap and a comfort grip. Not only were we excited to try out the comfort grip, we were eager to get started at transforming these wheels with no risk at all. This custom wrap is completely removable! If we didn’t like the results, we could simply peel it off!

We took the easy route and left the wheels on the car. Why remove them if the paint is removable!? We simply covered up the brake rotors/calipers and important suspension stuff with a garbage bag and a bit of tape.

We gave the can a quick shake and the comfort grip simply clicked on over the top of the can. The comfort grip was a wise investment. It made the big task seem easy and definitely helped the tip of the pointer finger from getting that evil imprint from the can nozzle.

We did about 5 light coats on each wheel leaving about 15 minutes between each coat. (This is depending on the weather). We purchased 4 cans and we only used about 3 and a half cans. This of course is depending on the size of your wheels and heaviness of your coats. We were happy with our results so we left it at 5 coats.
