Meet Malcolm C, the owner of this 1969 Mach 1 Ford Mustang which features for the month of June in our Club Plus Calendar for 2017. Malcolm has shared with us some more detail on his car!
What work has been completed on the car?
Since picking the car up from Port Botany in February 2016 I have gradually been working on tidying up things that are less than perfect. First thing was the 4 wheel drum brakes which were incredibly bad. Fitted power disc brakes and the car now stops. I had a noisy air-conditioning compressor so replaced it with a modern 134 compressor. I am now accumulating parts to start a conversion to right hand drive next April.
What does the car mean to you?
Mustangs are a passion. Each time I go to the garage it’s like a piece of art. I never get tired of looking at it.
What is your favourite Supercheap Auto product to use on your vehicle?
I probably polish my car too often but find the Armor All Wax & Polish easy to use and keeps the car immaculate.
Where is your favourite place to drive the vehicle?
I mainly drive the car locally which involves at least a trip a week to Super Cheap
What do you like best about your vehicle?
It’s hard to nail it down to what I like best as there is so much I like. I would probably have to say the sound. You don’t get this from a modern car.
What would you like to do next on your vehicle?
Probably detailing the underside. Could do with a little work to bring it back to original.
Is there anything else you would like to share?
When I first asked my wife in July 2015 if I could get a mustang her response was “we’ve got nowhere to park another car. If you can find a place to park it you can get one” 10 minutes later I had a neighbour down with his excavator. Two weeks later a new parking area was concreted, retained and paved. I’m not sure she realise what she committed to. A couple of weeks ago I said I wouldn’t mind getting a 67 fastback. Her response was “ you can sell the 69 and get a 67”. I said “no, as well”. She said “where would we park another car?”……so if I can find a place to park it…. A very quick response of “NO”. I’ll just keep whittling away at the second one.
