Meet Bill and Collene K, the owners of this 1937 Oldsmobile One Ton Utility which features for the month of November in our Club Plus Calendar for 2017. Bill and Collene have shared with us some more detail on his car!
I purchased this 1937 Oldsmobile One Ton Utility Truck from an 80 year old guy at Medowie who was always planning to restore it to its former glory. It was made by Holdens for Australian market only. It had been sitting in his shed beside a 1939 Oldsmobile Sedan, I finished up with both vehicles in my shed.
I commenced a full restoration on the 1937 Oldsmobile Utility in April 2014 and finished April 2016.
The restoration commenced by dismantling everything and the body was taken to the painters for bare metal and any rust was replaced with new metal.
Motor, Gearbox and drive line all reconditioned, brake master cylinder, wheel cylinders and wheel bearings renewed.
Electrical: – new wiring, lights & indicators.
Suspension: Springs, shackles & bushes restored.
Glass: front window screen laminated glass, side & back windows toughen glass.
The Wife was the supervisor and picked the paint and interior colours. The truck was painted with two-pack, cabin & bonnet Santa Fe Beige and guards & front Autumn Gold.
The hard wood floor was replaced with new unused 30year old seasoned Tongue & Groove Cypress Pine that I had stored, the side boards were replaced with Cedar timber.
