Tim Slade has ended the Winton SuperSprint in 14th place in a hard fought battle over 200km.
Slade qualified the Supercheap Auto Racing Commodore 15th, and on soft tyres charged his way to the top 10 during the opening laps.
After pitting on lap 12, he made his way back to seventh following a safety car in the middle of the race, but slipped to 14th during the final stint.
“It was disappointing to end the day in 14th. We were looking good in the race but our tyre wear was poor,” Slade said.
“They really dropped off towards the end of the race, so I was struggling for grip and I fell back.”
Slade said the team has already identified areas of improvement ahead of the SKYCITY Darwin SuperSprint.
“I didn’t have the best pace on hard tyres this weekend. We know there’s areas we need to work on, so we just need to take the right direction,” Slade said.
“Darwin is a different style of track to Winton and it’s been resurfaced since last time we were there.”
Slade sits 17th in the title heading to round five, which takes place at Hidden Valley Raceway from 19-21 June. Want information on tickets? Click here.
